During a news conference held in Beijing on April 11, the visiting Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez talked about the latest US tariff policies and said that Washington's 90-day tariff truce with the European Union does not mean existing or planned duties have been shelved. US tariffs of 25 percent on EU steel and aluminum are still in place, and proposed tariffs of 25 percent on motor vehicles made in the EU have not been withdrawn, he said. "It is important to be aware that there will be intense negotiations over those 90 days."
