At the dock of Huanghai Shipbuilding in Rongcheng, Shandong province, a 62,000-metric-ton multi-purpose pulp ship is in the critical phase of hull closure. Large numbers of technical and construction workers, along with various lifting equipment, are busy every day, making preparations for the upcoming dock operations.

During construction works, the State Grid Weihai Power Supply Company organized staff members to visit the shipyard. They've inspected electrical safety hazards, promoted knowledge on safe electricity use, and provided comprehensive power supply services for production at the shipyard.

With the international shipping market picking up, Huanghai Shipbuilding expects to deliver eight 12,500-ton multi-purpose heavy-lift ships between April to August. As a large-scale private shipbuilding enterprise in the region, this year, Huanghai Shipbuilding has attracted numerous ship owners from afar eager to build large vessels here. As a result, orders are continuous, and the shipyard is operating at full capacity.

In response, the State Grid Weihai Power Supply Company has initiated a "power supply plus energy efficiency" service mode. During inspections, staff members entered the shipyard's distribution rooms and production lines, learned about the energy needs of the enterprise, delved into the low-carbon requirements and energy consumption of the enterprise's electrical equipment, and established long-term communication mechanisms with customers. They've promoted the latest electricity policies and provided energy-saving solutions for the enterprise.

By integrating electricity analysis and energy efficiency diagnostics, they were able to precisely formulate optimized electricity solutions for the shipbuilder.

Staff members also conducted economic analyses around peak-valley electricity ratios, load adjustment tariffs and basic electricity tariffs. They prepared targeted and practical energy efficiency reports, provided cost reduction and efficiency enhancement suggestions and assisted enterprises in improving efficiency, enhancing performance and increasing benefits.

"The rapid development of the shipyard relies on reliable power supply. Our shipbuilding industry has a significant dependence on electricity, and every process in shipbuilding, such as the processing of components, welding, cutting and crane operations, cannot be achieved without electricity. Wherever our electricity needs are, the service of the power supply company follows, providing a strong support for our production operations," said Wang Tongming, equipment manager of Huanghai Shipyard.
