Foreign Ministry issued on Tuesday a security advisory for Chinese citizens in the Philippines and those planning to travel there, urging heightened security precautions and emergency preparedness.

In recent times, the Philippines has experienced social unrest with frequent incidents of harassment and inspection of Chinese citizens and businesses by Philippine law enforcement agencies, according to a press release from the ministry.

There has been a noticeable increase in political gatherings, protests, and demonstrations, leading to heightened security risks faced by Chinese citizens and institutions in the Philippines, it added.

The ministry and Chinese diplomatic missions in the Philippines advise Chinese citizens there to closely monitor the security situation, avoid political gatherings and crowded areas, and comply with local laws and regulations.

Those planning to travel to the Philippines should conduct a thorough risk assessment and make informed decisions.

In case of emergencies, individuals are advised to promptly report to local authorities and seek assistance from the Chinese embassy and consulates in the Philippines.
