"Now there are more and more charging piles. Basically, you can charge your vehicle at every charging station. There are even mobile 'power banks' available during peak travel hours, which brings great convenience to new energy vehicle users," Mr Zhang, an owner of a new energy vehicle said delightfully on Jan 1 while returning to his hometown from Baoji, Shaanxi province. He was charging his vehicle at the charging station of the Qingtongxia municipal government in Wuzhong, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, when he saw the staff from the Wuzhong Power Supply Company of the State Grid Ningxia Electric Power Company conducting a safety inspection of electricity usage.

On Jan 1, the Energy Law of the People's Republic of China was officially implemented, further strengthening the legal foundation in the energy field, safeguarding national energy security and promoting green and low-carbon transformation. To meet the needs of citizens for green travel by new energy vehicles, the State Grid Ningxia Electric Power Company Wuzhong branch took the initiative to coordinate with the local development and reform bureau for overall planning and precise layout, and made every effort to build a smart, convenient and safe charging infrastructure network. In 2024, the company newly built eight direct-current charging piles with a power of 120 kilowatts. The coverage rate of charging piles in eight townships and 43 residential areas reached 100 percent, making it a reality for new energy vehicles to "be able to leave the city, go to the countryside and return home".

Meanwhile, in order to actively respond to the upcoming Spring Festival homecoming rush, the State Grid Ningxia Electric Power Company Wuzhong branch has set up a one-kilometer service circle for public charging facilities within its jurisdiction. It has focused on conducting a comprehensive "check-up" on the operation status of charging piles, the special power supply equipment for charging piles, etc, checking whether the connections are tight, whether the touch screens are functioning properly, and whether the indicator light status and interface display are correct. In addition, it has provided on-site guidance to customers on the safe and standardized use of charging equipment, effectively providing good services and power supply for residents' green and low-carbon travel.
