Tunnel work on key HSR completed

The Niutoushan Tunnel on the Nanchang-Jiujiang High-speed Railway has been successfully pierced, marking the completion of all tunnel projects built with the mining method along the line, State builder China Railway 24th Bureau Group Corp said. As a crucial component of the Beijing-Hong Kong HSR, the HSR holds vital significance for the development of Jiangxi province's transportation system, as it will not only help the inland province better link with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, but also enhance its role in the development of the Yangtze River region, CR24G said.

Yuan weakens to 7.1876 against greenback

The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, weakened 6 pips to 7.1876 against the US dollar on Tuesday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System. In China's spot foreign exchange market, the yuan is allowed to rise or fall by 2 percent from the central parity rate each trading day. The central parity rate of the yuan against the dollar is based on a weighted average of prices offered by market makers before the opening of the interbank market each business day.
