On Nov 21, State Grid Bortala Power Supply Company installed lightning arresters on the 110-kilovolt Huangguqian Transmission Line, which has effectively improved the transmission line's ability to prevent lightning strikes and further ensured the safe and stable operation of the transmission line.

The 110-kilovolt Huangguqian Transmission Line is one of the most important power supply lines for the Jinghe-Yining-Horgos Railway and has the task to supply the power for the Aobao Traction Station, the Aqia'er Traction Station and the Sugu'er Traction Station. This line is located in the Aqia'er mountainous area with a microclimate, where the terrain is rugged and steep, the landform is complex and the climate is unpredictable. Especially during the thunderstorm season, lightning activities are frequent, which has an impact on the safe operation of the transmission line.

To ensure the safety of the transmission line, the company decided to install lightning arresters in areas where lightning frequently occurs to deal with the potential damage that lightning weather might cause to the line. This installation work lasted for two days from Nov 20 to 21 and was carried out on the iron towers numbered from 209 to 214 along the 110-kilovolt Huangguqian Transmission Line. The lightning strike density in this section of the area is relatively high. After the installation of the lightning arresters, the impact of lightning on the safe operation of the transmission line can be effectively reduced.
