Vice-premier highlights ties with Brazil, UK
Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang had separate meetings with Rui Costa, chief of staff of the Presidency of Brazil, and David Lammy, secretary of state for foreign, commonwealth and development affairs of the United Kingdom, on Friday in Beijing.
While meeting with Costa, Ding pointed out that both China and Brazil are important countries of the Global South, and they are like-minded good friends and good partners marching forward hand-in-hand.
He expressed China's willingness to work with Brazil to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to constantly expand mutually beneficial cooperation, and promote bilateral ties to a new stage.
Costa said that Brazil considers China a reliable long-term partner. He expressed the hope that the two countries would work together to make bilateral relations more strategic and comprehensive.
During the meeting with Lammy, Ding said that both China and the UK are permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and major world economies with deeply intertwined interests.
China is ready to work with the UK to promote the strategic and long-term development of a stable and mutually beneficial relationship to inject greater momentum into global peace and prosperity, he said.
Lammy said that the new UK government is willing to strengthen constructive dialogue with China, engage in frank exchanges and deepen cooperation in various sectors, and develop a consistent bilateral relationship based on mutual respect, and jointly cope with global challenges.
Vice-president to attend Indonesian leader's inauguration
At the invitation of the Indonesian government, Vice-President Han Zheng, serving as President Xi Jinping's special representative, will attend the inauguration of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta on Sunday and visit the Southeast Asian nation from Saturday to Monday.
After his trip to Indonesia, Han will pay a three-day visit to Brunei starting from Monday at the invitation of the Brunei government.
