Xi sends congratulatory message to Saied on his reelection as president of Republic of Tunisia
President Xi Jinping has extended congratulations to Kais Saied on his reelection as president of the Republic of Tunisia, highlighting the strong emphasis on the development of bilateral relations.
In the message sent on Wednesday, President Xi emphasized his readiness to work with Saied to take the 60th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations this year as an opportunity to carry forward China-Tunisia friendship, deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and promote the steady and long-term growth of the bilateral strategic partnership.
Xi and Saied announced the establishment of the China-Tunisia strategic partnership during Saied's state visit to China in May, which Xi said has taken relations to a new level.
In recent years, under the joint guidance of both leaders, relations between China and Tunisia have developed in a sound and steady manner, with fruitful exchanges and cooperation in various fields and an ever-deepening traditional friendship, Xi added.
Trade between China and Tunisia grew 7.12 percent year-on-year to $2.27 billion in 2023, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
