Xi to award national medals, honorary titles ahead of National Day

President Xi Jinping will award national medals and honorary titles at a ceremony to be held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing at 10 am on Sunday ahead of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, will deliver an important speech at the ceremony.

Three types of awards — the Medal of the Republic, the Friendship Medal and medals of national honorary titles — will be granted at the ceremony.

Xi signed a presidential order on Sept 13 to award national medals and national honorary titles to 15 individuals on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the PRC. China celebrates its National Day on Oct 1.

Top legislator highlights cooperation with Uzbekistan

China's top legislator Zhao Leji said on Friday that China is willing to expand cooperation with Uzbekistan in areas such as trade and economy, green energy and new quality productive forces.

Zhao, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, made the remarks when meeting in Beijing with Tanzila Narbayeva, chairwoman of the Senate of Uzbekistan.

Zhao expressed China's readiness to work with Uzbekistan to accelerate the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, deepen cultural and tourism exchanges, and jointly safeguard the peace and stability of the two countries and the region.

Zhao also said the NPC is willing to carry out legislative exchanges with the Senate of Uzbekistan, work together to facilitate the approval of laws benefiting bilateral ties, and expand cooperation in various sectors to strengthen the foundation of China-Uzbekistan friendship.

Vice-premier praises contribution of foreign experts

Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang encouraged foreign experts in China to continue supporting China's development as builders of China's modernization and bridges for China's exchanges and cooperation with other countries.

Ding made the remarks at a reception held in Beijing for foreign experts celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

He acknowledged the invaluable contribution made by foreign experts who came to China from far away to assist China's socialist modernization drive, saying that the Chinese people will always bear this in mind.

Highlighting China's commitment to implementing more proactive, open and effective policies for talented people, Ding said it is hoped that the foreign experts in China will continue to serve as the envoys of people-to-people friendship, making greater contribution, to building a community with a shared future for mankind.
