Xi extends congratulations to Sri Lanka's new president
President Xi Jinping sent a message on Monday to Anura Kumara Dissanayake congratulating him on his inauguration as president of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
Xi hailed China and Sri Lanka as traditional friendly neighbors, saying that since the establishment of diplomatic ties 67 years ago, China and Sri Lanka have always understood and supported each other, setting a good example of friendly coexistence and mutually beneficial cooperation between countries of different sizes.
Xi said he prizes the development of China-Sri Lanka relations, and stands ready to work with President Dissanayake to carry forward the traditional friendship and enhance political mutual trust.
He also pledged to work with the Sri Lankan leader to facilitate more fruitful high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and make steady and long-term progress in the China-Sri Lanka strategic cooperative partnership, featuring sincere mutual assistance and everlasting friendship, in order to better benefit the people of the two countries.
Nation to enrich cooperation framework with Cambodia
China's top legislator Zhao Leji said on Monday that the nation is ready to better align its development strategies with Cambodia and enrich the Diamond Hexagon cooperation framework covering the areas of politics, production capacity, agriculture, energy, security and people-to-people exchanges.
Zhao, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, made the remarks when meeting in Beijing with Cambodian National Assembly President Khuon Sudary, who is leading a delegation on a visit to China from Sunday to Thursday.
Noting that China always regards Cambodia as a special priority in its neighborhood diplomacy, Zhao expressed Beijing's willingness to maintain high-level strategic communication with Phnom Penh and to firmly support each other on issues concerning their respective core interests.
Zhao said that China will strengthen coordination and cooperation with Cambodia on multilateral platforms such as the United Nations and China-ASEAN cooperation and jointly build a peaceful, prosperous, beautiful and friendly home for China and member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
Sudary said that Cambodia's National Assembly is willing to strengthen friendly exchanges with China's NPC and make positive contributions to promoting bilateral relations.
