Prudent, orderly raising of retirement ages urged
Premier Li Qiang has urged authorities at all levels to implement China's reform on gradually raising statutory retirement ages in a prudent and orderly manner, as it is crucial for providing support for advancing Chinese modernization.
Speaking on Thursday at a meeting of the State Council, China's Cabinet, Li said the gradual postponement of statutory retirement ages is a proactive response to the country's aging population, a practical approach to fully unleash talent dividends, and a significant move to better protect and improve people's well-being.
In implementing the new retirement policy, Li stressed the importance of ensuring that it truly reflects employees' intentions, and that supportive policies and measures are formulated.
Top legislator meets with ROK delegation
China's top legislator Zhao Leji met in Beijing on Thursday with a delegation led by Kim Tae-nyeon, president of the Republic of Korea-China Parliamentarians' Union.
Zhao, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, said that the sound and steady development of relations between China and the ROK serves the common interests of both countries and is conducive to regional peace, stability, development and prosperity.
"The NPC of China is willing to continue to carry out various forms of dialogue and exchanges with the ROK National Assembly to promote the development of bilateral relations," Zhao said.
Kim said that the ROK attaches great importance to developing ROK-China relations and congratulates the NPC on the 70th anniversary of its founding. The ROK-China Parliamentarians' Union is willing to contribute positively to promoting the development of ROK-China relations, Kim said.
