Holiday records steady growth of Chinese economy
The Chinese economy grew steadily as reflected by travel and consumption surge during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, Guangming Daily reported on Wednesday.
During the festival from Sept 15 to 17, some 629.56 million passenger trips were handled by China's transportation sectors, up 31.1 percent year-on-year, data from the Ministry of Transport showed on Wednesday.
Railway trips totaled 42.57 million, waterway for 1.98 million, and civil aviation handled 5.07 million trips.
Domestic tourism spots received about 107 million visits over the holiday, and the total tourism expenditure hit 51.05 billion yuan, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Meanwhile, the express delivery sector collected and delivered 1.31 billion and 1.41 billion parcels, respectively.
