King of Malaysia to visit China
At the invitation of President Xi Jinping, Malaysia's King Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar will make a state visit to China from Thursday to Sunday, Beijing announced on Wednesday.
President Xi will host a ceremony and a banquet to welcome King Sultan Ibrahim. The two heads of state will hold talks, and Premier Li Qiang will also meet with him.
The China trip is King Sultan Ibrahim's first visit to a country outside member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations since he assumed office as Malaysia's head of state in January, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a daily news conference.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
China is willing to work with Malaysia to take this visit as an opportunity to continue the traditional friendship, deepen strategic alignment, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, further enrich the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Malaysia, and achieve new results in building a China-Malaysia community with a shared future, Lin said.
Li extends congratulations to IAEA
Premier Li Qiang extended a congratulatory message on Monday to the 68th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
In his message, Li pointed out that nuclear energy is an important clean energy source, noting that President Xi Jinping has proposed the building of a global nuclear security architecture featuring fairness and win-win cooperation.
Since China joined the IAEA 40 years ago, it has always supported the agency's work with concrete actions, Li said, adding that the two sides have established all-around cooperation in the fields of nuclear energy development and utilization, as well as nuclear safety and security, safeguards and nonproliferation, and have achieved fruitful results, making important contributions to global nuclear energy governance and development.
Li said that China is ready to further strengthen cooperation with the IAEA and other member states to make global nuclear energy governance more just and rational, nuclear energy development more inclusive, and nuclear energy cooperation more open and orderly.
