Seventh-seeded Yuan Yue of China dropped her first set before overcoming Serbian Aleksandra Krunic, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, on Tuesday to reach the round of 16 at the WTA 500 event at Monterrey, Mexico.

Countrywoman Wang Xiyu also advanced after beating Germany's Tatjana Maria 6-0, 6-3, and will face No 6 seed and Czech teen Linda Noskova, who enjoyed an easy 6-0, 6-1 win over Anna Danilina of Kazakhstan.

Magdalena Frech, the No 9 seed from Poland, reached the round of 16 at the expense of Nadia Podoroska of Argentina, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.

Gauff appears on Wheaties boxes

A year after becoming a Grand Slam champion, Coco Gauff is teaming up with the "Breakfast of Champions."

As she gets set to defend her US Open title, Gauff is going to be on the cover of a limited-edition box of Wheaties, the cereal maker announced Tuesday.

When Gauff won last year aged 19, it made her the event's youngest American champion since Serena Williams in 1999.

Gauff's Wheaties box comes a few months after 39-time major champion, and equal rights pioneer, Billie Jean King was honored by the brand.

"I've had so many role models in this sport help guide my professional and personal journey, and I hope to keep empowering the next generation to also work hard and dream big," Gauff said.

Noel turns pro after winning an NCAA title

NCAA champion Alexa Noel's debut as a professional tennis player arrives next week at the US Open — a decade after she first went to Flushing Meadows with a racket in hand for the first time.

When she was about 11, the now-21-year-old American recalled, she was invited to a camp run by the US Tennis Association at the site of the year's last Grand Slam tournament.

"They let us stand on (the court in Arthur) Ashe (Stadium)," Noel said in a video interview with The Associated Press. "And I was like, 'This is so cool. I want to be here one day.'"

Noel earned this trip to New York, and a spot in her first Slam singles bracket, by winning a title for the University of Miami as a redshirt junior in May, the same month she graduated with a degree in sociology.
