Envoy to attend Mauritania event
Wang Guangqian, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, will act as President Xi Jinping's special envoy to attend Mauritania's President Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani's inauguration, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on Wednesday. The ceremony will be held in Mauritania's capital Nouakchott on Thursday.

Boeing names new CEO amid $1.4b loss
Boeing named former Rockwell Collins chief Robert "Kelly" Ortberg its next CEO on Wednesday, as it reported a hefty loss on continued operational problems. The appointment came as the aviation giant attempts to rebound from a series of safety and quality control problems that have sharpened scrutiny on the company. Boeing on Wednesday reported a second-quarter loss of $1.4 billion, compared with a loss of $149 million in the year-ago period.

FM: Govt to sever relations with Peru
Venezuela's Foreign Minister Yvan Gil said on Tuesday the government has decided to sever diplomatic relations with Peru. The announcement followed statements by his Peruvian counterpart, Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea, who said, "Peru will not accept the violation of the popular will of the Venezuelan people," referring to the country's presidential election.
