Herbal medicine industry increases farmers' income in Xinjiang

Gongliu county in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region has vigorously revitalized Chinese herbal medicine by utilizing its abundant natural resources in recent years, and actively promoting the construction of the industrial chain of Chinese herbal medicine.

Gongliu county bears planting area for Chinese medicine such as fritillary bulb, astragalus memeranaceus and rhizoma polygonati relying on core experimental demonstration planting area of around 305 mu (20.33 hectares). Over 150 varieties of Chinese medicinal herbals are cultivated, and have increased local farmers' income.
