Recent Dragon Boat Festival sees significant increase in cross-regional trips


More than 630 million cross-regional trips were made during the three-day Dragon Boat Festival, which ended on Monday, according to the Ministry of Transport on Tuesday.
It was an average of 212.54 million trips everyday, marking a significant increase of 16.6 percent compared to the same period in 2019, before the epidemic. It was also a substantial growth of 44.1 percent compared to 2022, and a notable rise of 9.4 percent compared to last year.
Among the figures, 46.05 million trips were made by railway, an average of 15.35 million per day, a year-on-year increase of 5.1 percent and up 18.6 percent compared with 2019.
The civil aviation sector also saw a passenger surge by transporting 5.53 million trips during the holiday, with an average of 1.84 million per day, up 7.5 percent compared with 2019 and a year-on-year increase of 7.9 percent.
The Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese lunar calendar.
