BYD debuts fifth-gen DM hybrid technology

Chinese new energy vehicle giant BYD has released its fifth-generation dual mode hybrid technology for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles with a comprehensive driving range of 2,100 kilometers. With the technology, BYD's plug-in hybrid vehicles can lead globally in a series of key indicators including achieving a thermal efficiency of 46.06 percent, a fuel consumption of 2.9 liters per 100 km even when in an electricity-deficit state, and a comprehensive range of 2,100 km.

Jan-April container throughput up 9%

China's container throughput at its ports rose 9 percent year-on-year in the first four months amid foreign trade expansion, official data showed. A total of 104.03 million twenty-foot equivalent units of containers were handled at domestic ports during the period, said the Ministry of Transport. The country's cargo throughput at ports totaled 5.55 billion metric tons over the period, up 5.2 percent.
