May 22 marked the 24th International Day for Biological Diversity, and Gansu province is leading the charge in protecting this vital treasure. State Grid Gansu Electric Power is actively integrating biodiversity principles into its operations, fostering a harmonious coexistence between infrastructure and the natural world.

To promote the harmonious coexistence of the power grid and nature, in recent years, the company has deeply implemented public welfare projects such as the "Migratory Bird Lifeline," "Protect the Line, Love the Birds," and "Life Bird's Nest." These initiatives explore a win-win long-term mechanism for line protection and bird protection, providing safe, comfortable, and stable habitats for birds.

Since the launch of the "Protect the Line, Love the Birds" initiative, the company has installed over 140 artificial bird nests with an occupancy rate of 36 percent. Additionally, more than 260 new eco-friendly acoustic and light bird deterrents and over 20,000 bird spikes have been installed along transmission line towers where birds congregate.

Beyond infrastructure modifications, the company has conducted 23 natural education lectures and distributed over 8,500 copies of promotional materials, calling on the public to join in protecting the ecosystem. It has organized staff to focus on inspecting power lines and towers in bird activity hotspots such as nature reserve management stations within its jurisdiction.

Moreover, State Grid Gansu Electric Power closely monitors birds perching on towers, thoroughly inspects low-voltage equipment like distribution cabinets and metering boxes, and reinforces and seals cabinets that are damaged or poorly sealed to prevent birds from nesting inside them, thereby preventing bird electrocution accidents.

By adopting a comprehensive approach that combines satellite monitoring, visual fire prevention devices, human patrols, and machine inspections, the company effectively minimizes the risk of wildfires along power line corridors, ensuring a reliable and sustainable electricity supply.

Through its unwavering commitment to green power and biodiversity protection, Gansu is paving the way for a sustainable future, demonstrating the power of collaboration in creating a harmonious balance between human progress and environmental well-being.
