Xi urges better ideological, political education
President Xi Jinping has stressed the need for more efforts to break new ground in ideological and political education in schools in the new era.
Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remark in an instruction on the development of ideological-political courses in schools. The instruction was conveyed on Saturday at a meeting held in Beijing.
He said the CPC Central Committee has always made developing ideological-political courses in schools a priority for education since the 18th CPC National Congress. Developing these courses should follow the guidance of the Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and the fundamental mission of fostering virtue should be carried out, he said.
Xi congratulates Panama's president-elect Mulino
President Xi Jinping has congratulated Jose Raul Mulino on his election as president of the Republic of Panama.
In his message, Xi said the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Panama in June 2017 opened a new chapter in bilateral ties, adding that over the past seven years, the relationship between the two nations has developed rapidly and achieved fruitful results.
Xi said he is willing to work with Mulino to promote more friendly exchanges and guide bilateral relations to achieve in-depth development, in order to benefit the people of both countries.
