Li calls for solid steps to improve people's well-being

Premier Li Qiang has called for effective and solid steps to expand the achievements in poverty alleviation, in order to ensure that those who have been lifted out of poverty continue to live a better life.

Li made the remarks on Wednesday during an inspection tour in Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The inspection tour took him to a residential community housing relocated people in the city of Kaili, a blueberry industrial park in Majiang county and a vocational school in Taijiang county.

He urged efforts to implement various policies and measures to broaden the channels for increasing the incomes of farmers and continuously enhance the momentum for rural development.

He fully affirmed the achievements in Guizhou's economic and social development, and expressed the hope that the province will leverage its advantages and make dedicated efforts to make greater contributions to the development of the country's western region.

Enhanced exchanges with Mexico's Senate urged

China's top legislator Zhao Leji congratulated Mexico's Senate on its 200th anniversary, calling for enhancing exchanges between the legislative bodies of the two countries.

Zhao, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, extended warm congratulations on Tuesday on behalf of the NPC in a speech delivered via video at the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the establishment of Mexico's Senate.

Since China and Mexico established diplomatic ties more than 50 years ago, the two countries have deepened their political mutual trust and yielded fruitful results in practical cooperation, bringing tangible benefits to the two peoples, he said.

China willing to promote practical ties with Kazakhstan

Wang Huning, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the nation's top political advisory body, met on Wednesday in Beijing with Yerlan Koshanov, speaker of the Mazhilis, the lower house of Kazakhstan's parliament.

Under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the two countries have been focusing on high-quality construction of the Belt and Road, and working together to build a closer community with a shared future, Wang said.

China is willing to work with Kazakhstan to promote practical cooperation, enhance friendly relations between the two peoples, and boost the permanent comprehensive strategic partnership, he said.

Koshanov expressed firm support for China's core interests and major concerns, saying that the parliament of Kazakhstan is willing to play an active role in promoting the permanent comprehensive strategic partnership.

Koshanov also met with Vice-President Han Zheng on Wednesday in Beijing. Both sides pledged to strengthen bilateral cooperation and deepen people-to-people friendship.
