Premier visits enterprise pavilion of Canton Fair
Premier Li Qiang visited the enterprise pavilion of the 135th China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, on Thursday, emphasizing the need to deepen reform and opening-up and uphold innovative development.
During the visit, Li toured the exhibition areas of several prominent companies including Skyworth, iFlytek and General Motors.
He commended the participating enterprises for the competitiveness of their products amid intense global competition, and encouraged them to continuously enhance their independent research and development capabilities and promote digital, intelligent and green transformation.
Li stressed the importance of fully utilizing the platform of the Canton Fair to continually increase the influence of Chinese brands, thereby promoting the steady improvement of both the quality and quantity of international trade. He also interacted with overseas buyers, encouraging them to act as bridges for promoting win-win cooperation between China and other countries.
Before his visit, the premier participated in a symposium attended by representatives of the exhibiting companies.
Li expressed the hope that domestic enterprises would further expand into the international market, actively participate in the formulation of international standards, and pursue a new path based on innovation, quality and branding. He also underscored the government's commitment to providing robust support, effective guidance and quality services to enterprises engaging in international trade.
Vice-president meets with mayor of San Francisco
Vice-President Han Zheng met with San Francisco Mayor London Breed in Beijing on Thursday.
During the meeting, Han said that San Francisco has close connections with China, and has long been at the forefront of exchanges between China and California, and even the whole of the United States.
He said he hoped that Breed would take the opportunity of this visit to further promote bilateral economic, trade and technological cooperation, create new highlights in bilateral cooperation in the field of climate change, enhance cultural and people-to-people exchanges and friendship, and propel the healthy and stable development of China-US relations.
Breed said her visit aims to implement the important consensus reached between the two heads of state during their meeting in San Francisco in November. San Francisco will continue to strengthen practical cooperation with China in various fields, and it is willing to play an active role in promoting the healthy and stable development of US-China relations, she said.
