An exhibition to commemorate the 460th anniversary of William Shakespeare's birth, named Transformation Shakespeare into Gold, will open on April 20 at the Shanghai Art Collection Museum.

The month-long exhibition, ending May 19, will offer Shakespeare fans an immersive and comprehensive understanding of one of the world's greatest literary men.

This exhibition, the first of its kind in China to be dedicated to Shakespheare, has received strong support from the British Consulate-General in Shanghai, the Shanghai Library, the National Archives of the United Kingdom, and other organizations.

Born in 16th-century England, Shakespeare, as a master of world literature, is not only a brilliant gem in the history of drama but also an eternal witness to human wisdom and emotion.

The exhibition will be divided into five major sections, respectively showcasing Shakespeare's extraordinary life, the daily lives of Shakespeare's era, Shakespeare's writings, the playwright's opera masterpieces, and his hometown Stratford. Through over 100 diverse items, the exhibition aims to comprehensively display Shakespeare's life story and literary works.
