Several tai chi practitioners from Russia recently visited Handan in North China's Hebei province to study tai chi at the former residence of Lu Mingjin, who founded Lu's tai chi style in Guangping county during the reign of Emperor Daoguang during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

In 2012, Lu's tai chi was added to Hebei's intangible cultural heritage list.

According to the local government, in recent years, the inheritors of Lu's tai chi in Guangping have brought the style abroad, giving performances and teachings in countries such as Russia, Indonesia and Belarus.

It added that nearly ten thousand people in Russia are now learning Lu's tai chi.
