Deputy prime minister of Slovenia to pay visit
Slovenia's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon will pay an official visit to China from Tuesday to Sunday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on Monday. This will be the second visit to China by a national leader of Slovenia in five years, which Lin said is expected to further consolidate bilateral political mutual trust and deepen cooperation in various areas. Fajon will be joined by a business delegation during the visit, he said. "It fully demonstrates that entrepreneurs from Slovenia as well as Europe have high expectations to achieve high level mutual benefits," he said. China stands ready to work with Slovenia to promote the sound and steady growth of China-Slovenia and China-Europe relations, he said.
Vice-FM meets US ambassador
Chinese Vice-Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu on Monday met with United States Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns; Daniel J. Kritenbrink, US assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs; and Sarah Beran, White House National Security Council's senior director for China affairs. Yang Tao, director-general of the Department of North American and Oceanian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry, held talks with them. The two sides had candid, in-depth and constructive communication on properly handling differences and agreed to maintain exchanges at various levels in order to stabilize and develop bilateral ties, a readout by the Foreign Ministry said.
