Premier calls for boosting vitality of businesses
Premier Li Qiang stressed on Monday the importance of boosting the vitality of businesses and enhancing the internal dynamics of economic growth during a symposium with experts and entrepreneurs on the performance of the economy.
After listening to the speeches of the attendees, Li highlighted the economic challenges, including rising complexities and uncertainties in the nation's external environment, and existing problems affecting the country's economic performance.
He called for efforts to enhance the consistency of macro policies, saying that more work must be done to enable better implementation of policies.
It is important to defuse risks in key sectors and give greater priority to work related to public well-being, he added.
Democratic oversight in Yangtze protection emphasized
Wang Huning, China's top political adviser, highlighted on Monday the need to perform democratic oversight for the environmental protection of the Yangtze River to promote the construction of a beautiful China.
Wang, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, made the remarks at a seminar in Beijing.
Wang stressed the need for the central committees of the non-CPC political parties and people without party affiliation to closely follow the strategic plans on the high-quality development of the Yangtze Economic Belt while focusing on key and difficult issues to carry out democratic oversight.
More efforts urged to advance political inspections
China's top anti-graft official Li Xi called on Monday for strengthened efforts to advance political inspections to guarantee the nation's high-quality development.
Li, secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection — the nation's top anti-graft watchdog — made the remarks at a meeting on the initiation of the 20th CPC Central Committee's third round of disciplinary inspection.
Li emphasized the need to maintain the political orientation of inspections, strictly enforce the Party's political discipline and rules, and focus on major national issues to strengthen supervision and inspection.
The CCDI announced on Monday a list of 34 entities for the latest round of inspection, including leading Party members' groups or Party committees of State Council bodies as well as State-owned banks and insurance companies.
