He called for efforts to enhance the consistency of macro policies, saying that more work must be done to enable better implementation of policies.

It is important to defuse risks in key sectors and give greater priority to work related to public well-being, he added.

Democratic oversight in Yangtze protection emphasized

Wang, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, made the remarks at a seminar in Beijing.

Wang stressed the need for the central committees of the non-CPC political parties and people without party affiliation to closely follow the strategic plans on the high-quality development of the Yangtze Economic Belt while focusing on key and difficult issues to carry out democratic oversight.

More efforts urged to advance political inspections

China's top anti-graft official Li Xi called on Monday for strengthened efforts to advance political inspections to guarantee the nation's high-quality development.

Li, secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection — the nation's top anti-graft watchdog — made the remarks at a meeting on the initiation of the 20th CPC Central Committee's third round of disciplinary inspection.

Li emphasized the need to maintain the political orientation of inspections, strictly enforce the Party's political discipline and rules, and focus on major national issues to strengthen supervision and inspection.

The CCDI announced on Monday a list of 34 entities for the latest round of inspection, including leading Party members' groups or Party committees of State Council bodies as well as State-owned banks and insurance companies.
