Vice-premier calls for sound implementation of projects funded by additional govt bonds
Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang has called for the sound implementation of projects supported by the country's additional government bonds for post-disaster reconstruction, and strict supervision over the use of the funds.
Ding, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks during his research tour from Saturday to Sunday in Beijing's Fangshan district and Zhuozhou, a city in Hebei province. He also presided over a symposium in Zhuozhou on Sunday.
He emphasized excellence and integrity in the projects to win people's approval.
In 2023, China issued an additional 1 trillion yuan ($138.3 billion) in government bonds to support reconstruction projects and disaster-response capacity building.
During his visits, Ding said that quality should be placed first, and that functional improvement and reconstruction need to be given equal priority in developing major infrastructure projects, in order to better protect the nation's capital from flood risks.
He also called for reasonable progress in key reconstruction projects to ensure they are put into use before this year's flood season.
