A special exhibition of a comprehensive series of Chinese paintings opened recently in Juungar Banner, Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

The series, a project initiated in 2005, features a remarkable collection of 12,405 pieces or sets of Chinese painting artifacts from 263 cultural and historical institutions worldwide.

Among these, 9,155 are from domestic collections, while 3,250 are from international sources, encompassing a vast array of rare and invaluable Chinese artistic treasures.

The project culminated in the publication of a comprehensive 226-book series in 60-volumes, making it the most extensive compilation of Chinese painting images to date.

The special exhibition showcases 450 meticulously selected color drafts of historical Chinese paintings included in the comprehensive series. The exhibition is scheduled to run until May 24.

It marks the project's inaugural event in the Year of the Dragon, as well as its first grassroots exhibition nationwide, and the first in Inner Mongolia.
