Bavaria key link in Sino-German relations, Li says

Premier Li Qiang met with Markus Soder, governor of the German state of Bavaria, in Beijing on Wednesday.

Li said that subnational cooperation is an important foundation of and a source of vitality for Sino-German relations.

China is willing to further enhance cooperation with Bavaria in the areas of economy and trade, electric vehicles, clean energy, biopharmaceuticals and artificial intelligence as well as advance cultural and people-to-people exchanges, he said.

Li expressed the hope that Bavaria will continue to play an active role in promoting cooperation between China and Germany, thereby injecting fresh impetus into the development of relations between the two countries.

Soder said that Bavaria, with its close cooperation with China, opposes economic decoupling and disruption of industrial and supply chains. The state is willing to continue promoting cooperation with China in agriculture, and science and technology, in order to expand mutual interests and achieve win-win results.

Boao forum representatives praise Xi's vision

Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, met on Wednesday with the board of directors of the Boao Forum for Asia, some members of the forum's council of advisers, and representatives of strategic partner enterprises in Boao, Hainan province.

Zhao said that China will provide the world with more opportunities through its own new development. He expressed the hope that the forum will contribute to peace and development in Asia and the world.

Chairman of the forum Ban Ki-moon and other representatives attending the meeting highly praised President Xi Jinping's vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind, expressing their willingness to contribute to the development of the forum as well as unity and cooperation among all parties.

Top adviser calls for research-led political consultations

Wang Huning, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the nation's top political advisory body, called for solid research and investigations in political consultations in order to promote high-quality development and advance Chinese modernization.

Wang made the remarks when chairing the 17th Chairperson's Council Meeting of the 14th CPPCC National Committee in Beijing.

He said that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the CPPCC, and it is crucial to implement the important instructions of Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, and to incorporate upholding and strengthening of the leadership of the CPC into the entire process and all aspects of the work of the CPPCC.

Integrated growth of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei urged

Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, attended a meeting on the planning and construction of the Chinese capital on Wednesday.

Cai, who is also director of the Capital Planning and Construction Committee, delivered remarks at the third plenary meeting of the 20th planning committee.

The meeting's participants called for solid efforts in the planning and construction of the Chinese capital and urged promoting the integrated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province.

They emphasized the need to enhance the central administrative functions, optimize spatial layout of the capital city, improve supporting services, and put in solid effort while applying for the world heritage status for the central axis.

It is important to promote the construction and functional enhancement of cultural facilities, improve the spatial layout for green and low-carbon development, and establish a sound governance system for a super-large city, they said.
