Bangladesh ready to enhance political and official interactions with China

Bangladesh looks forward to high level interactions with China at political and official levels to further strengthen the important multi-dimensional relationship in width and depth for the benefits of the two peoples, the nation's top envoy to China said on Tuesday.
Bangladeshi Ambassador to China Jashim Uddin told the nation's Independence Day reception in Beijing that China has emerged as "a reliable and key partner of Bangladesh".
"China is not only our largest trading partner. It has also become an integral part of our national development narrative along with other friendly countries," he said.
He said Bangladesh, as part of the Belt and Road Initiative, commends China for completing a decade of visible work around the world under the BRI.
"We look forward to welcoming more Chinese investment that can help us implement the vision of graduating Bangladesh to a developed country by 2041," he said, adding that the South Asian country intends to keep on exploring areas of cooperation with China that have the promise of benefitting both countries.
The event was attended by Chen Xiaodong, vice-minister of foreign affairs.
He underscored Beijing's readiness to work with Bangladesh to implement the important common understandings reached by the leaders of the two countries, continue to deepen political mutual trust, and expand exchanges and cooperation in various fields.
