Yuan strengthens against greenback
The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, strengthened 53 pips to 7.0943 against the US dollar on Tuesday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System. The central parity rate of the yuan against the US dollar is based on a weighted average of prices offered by market makers before the opening of the interbank market each business day.
PBOC's latest CBS valued at $705m
The People's Bank of China, the country's central bank, conducted a three-month central bank bills swap (CBS) valued at 5 billion yuan ($704.79 million) on Tuesday, to improve the liquidity of perpetual bonds. The CBS is open to primary dealers for bidding at a fixed rate of 0.1 percent, the PBOC said in a statement.
