Former commissioner under investigation

Liu Yuejin, former commissioner for counterterrorism at the Ministry of Public Security, has been placed under disciplinary and supervisory investigation, according to an official statement released on Monday.
Liu, a former vice-ministerial level officer and also a member of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, is being investigated by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China and the National Commission of Supervision, China's top anti-graft watchdogs, for suspected severe violations of Party discipline and the law, the statement from CCDI and NCS said.
Liu, 65, had a long tenure in the anti-drug sector and became head of the Office of the China National Narcotics Control Commission in May 2015.
He served as the commissioner for counterterrorism at the ministry from December 2015 until June 2020.
In October 2011, Liu led a special task force to investigate the Mekong River Incident, where 13 Chinese crew members aboard two cargo ships were killed by the "Naw Kham Group" in the border area between Myanmar and Thailand.
