MOSCOW - The Ukrainian army shelled a critical infrastructure facility at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant with explosives dropping five meters from a fuel storage facility, the plant's press service said on Thursday.

"Shelling of the station's critical infrastructure was recorded. A non-sheathed explosive device was dropped into the area of the fence, behind which tanks with diesel fuel are located. If they hit the tanks, it could lead to dire consequences," the plant wrote on Telegram.

The shelling did not harm the equipment and personnel, said the plant's director, Yuriy Chernichuk, adding that experts will notify the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

In early February, the IAEA Director General and his team visited the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant for the fourth time since the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
