The Xiamen International Cruise Center has recently received approval to continue setting up outbound duty-free shops.
Outbound duty-free shops at ports are stores established at open outbound ports, selling duty-free goods to eligible outbound travelers. The imported goods they sell are exempt from tariffs and import-related taxes, while domestic goods are eligible for tax refunds or exemptions (value-added tax and consumption tax).
The outbound duty-free shops help reduce costs for consumers, drive the development of the local tourism, accommodation, and dining industries, and enhance the level of opening-up.
As one of China's four major cruise homeports, the Xiamen International Cruise Center handles nearly 500,000 cruise passengers annually.
The outbound duty-free shops have further enhanced the functionality of the Xiamen International Cruise Center as a port of entry and exit. The continued growth in the number of inbound and outbound passengers also promotes the development of duty-free business.
