Xi urged senior CPC officials to take the lead in consolidating and expanding the outcomes yielded through the Party-wide education campaign, to fully and faithfully implement the new development philosophy on all fronts, and to deepen reforms across the board.

President of Sierra Leone on state visit to China

President of Sierra Leone Julius Maada Bio will pay a state visit to China beginning Tuesday on the invitation of President Xi Jinping.

During the five-day visit, Xi will hold a welcoming ceremony and a banquet for Bio, and the two heads of state will hold talks. Premier Li Qiang and China's top legislator Zhao Leji will individually meet with Bio.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning told a daily news conference on Monday that it is believed that the visit will push for more achievements in bilateral friendly cooperation.

China and the African nation have been supporting each other on issues concerning their core interests since they established diplomatic relations in 1971, she said.

The two countries carried out efficient cooperation in economic and social development and maintained close coordination in international affairs, Mao said. In particular, she added, people from the two countries have forged a deep friendship by jointly fighting against Ebola and the COVID-19.

Holistic approach to unified national market urged

Premier Li Qiang called on Monday for across-the-board steps to eliminate barriers to market entry and address issues such as local protectionism, market segmentation and chaotic investment solicitation practices, in an effort to develop a unified national market.

Li made the remarks while presiding over a thematic study session of the State Council, China's Cabinet. The premier emphasized that a holistic approach must be adopted to ensure that new progress and breakthroughs can be secured in building a unified national market.

He advocated a goal-oriented approach to fully leverage China's massive market size, rich resources and complete industrial system, saying that measures must be taken to effectively address key obstacles that hinder economic circulation and to promote the rational flow and efficient allocation of resources.

Li pledged to encourage local authorities to proactively explore new steps in the development of a unified market, saying that institutional rules, including property rights protection, market access, fair competition and social credit systems, should be refined to provide an institutional guarantee.
