Xi inspects troops stationed in Tianjin, extends festive greetings to all service personnel

President Xi Jinping inspected troops stationed in Tianjin on Friday, ahead of Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year.

Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, extended festive greetings to service personnel of the People's Liberation Army and the People's Armed Police Force, civilian personnel posted in the military, and members of the militia and reserve forces, on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the CMC.

On Friday morning, Xi met with representatives of the Tianjin garrison command and posed for group photos with them.

He said that troops stationed in Tianjin have resolutely implemented the decisions and instructions of the CPC Central Committee and the CMC over the past year, made concrete advancement in various areas of work and excelled in completing major tasks.

Commending the troops' performance in supporting Tianjin in its flood relief efforts, he said their contributions have been significant to the protection of people's lives and property.

For the new year, Xi urged the full implementation of the Party's thinking on strengthening the military and military strategy for the new era, and efforts to achieve the goals set for the centenary of the PLA in 2027.

He also emphasized that as Spring Festival approaches, the country's armed forces should strengthen combat readiness, safeguard national security and maintain social stability to ensure people have a joyful and peaceful festival.

Conference summarizes education campaign to study, implement the Xi Jinping Thought

A conference on summarizing the education campaign to study and implement the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era was held in Beijing on Sunday.

The speech delivered by Xi, who is general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, at the meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Wednesday, when reviewing a summary report about the Party's theoretical study program and a guideline for building on the gains in the theoretical study program, was conveyed at the conference.

In his speech, Xi affirmed the significant achievements of the thematic education campaign and called for consolidating and expanding the achievements of the theoretical study program.

Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the leading group for the thematic education campaign, attended Sunday's conference and delivered a speech.

The Party's theoretical study program started in April, and is now concluded.

China is a land full of opportunities, premier underscores at meeting with foreign experts

Premier Li Qiang met on Sunday with foreign experts who received the Friendship Award for 2023 and representatives of foreign experts working in China at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing ahead of Spring Festival. The award is given annually by the Chinese government to honor outstanding foreign experts in China.

Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang attended the meeting during which experts from Switzerland, Germany, Brazil, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, Russia and other countries made speeches on topics such as technological innovation cooperation, green development and talent cultivation.

Li said that China is comprehensively promoting its modernization with high-quality development. Both at present and in the future, China is and will be a land full of opportunities for development, providing a broad stage for foreign experts and various talents to work and launch businesses, he added.

China upholds an open and inclusive development policy, and it warmly welcomes talents from all over the world, Li emphasized.

The premier said the Chinese government will continue to optimize relevant policies, further facilitate people-to-people exchanges, strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights, and create a better environment for people from all countries to work and live in China.
