As China sets foot on its journey of high-quality development, local governments have placed the improvement of their business environment as a top priority to attract more investors and talent.

Changyi, a county-level city in Weifang, Shandong province, for example, is striving to provide better services for local companies through improved working mechanisms.

A team of 211 professionals for full life cycle services - from project approval to its final completion - 183 key business projects have seen smooth operations this year with the government's support, covering a wide range of sectors such as intelligent fishing and sewage treatment, said the local government.

"A modern fishery technology industrial park is under the process of construction approval. Once completed, it will propel the transformation of the local traditional fishing industry toward a more advanced and intelligent future," said a government official of Changyi.

According to the annual tone-setting Central Economic Work Conference which was held in December, next year, China will make more efforts to attract foreign investors and continue to improve its business environment, aiming to further enhance the motivation and creativity of its business entities.

Aiming for an optimized business environment, the city is welcoming more investors and talent by giving full play to its advantages, such as further promoting its relatively mature industries and large companies. Through organizing matching activities between the supply and demand parties in Shandong province, the government has helped bring a significant amount of orders for local companies.

The Changyi government said it has conducted so far 105 investment promotion activities this year in first-tier cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen for more cooperation opportunities.

"We have signed cooperation agreements with a slew of large companies including Inspur Group and South Korea's SK Group, as well as some universities such as the Tsinghua University," said Xia Haitao, director of Changyi's investment promotion center.
