Construction of new HSR starts in Hunan
China has started building another high-speed railway in Hunan province in Central China, to boost north-south traffic. The 96-kilometer Shaoyang-Yongzhou HSR, linking two prefecture-level cities in southwestern Hunan, is also part of the Hohhot-Nanning HSR — an artery in the nation's "eight vertical and eight horizontal" HSR network. Guo Zhuxue, general manager of China Railway, said the new HSR will help Hunan province fully integrate into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and also establish a link with the Beibu Gulf city agglomeration. China Railway No 4 Engineering Group Co Ltd is building 34.23 kilometers of the new high-speed railway, according to the company.
