China will continue to assess the implementation of measures taken by the United States to exclude Chinese electric vehicles and relevant products from winning tax credits, taking actions when necessary, the Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.

The US government released specific measures regarding EV subsidy that discriminates against Chinese businesses and removes their products from the subsidy's purview, said He Yadong, spokesman of the ministry, calling it "a typical non-market oriented policy and practice".

The above-mentioned discriminatory subsidy policy violates the basic principles of the World Trade Organization (WTO), seriously disrupts international trade and investment, and undermines the stability of the global industrial and supply chains, He said.

The US has set up trade barriers and impeded fair competition, which is detrimental to the advancement of EV technology and the development of the whole industry. The US should respect the market principle, strictly abide by WTO rules, correct the wrong practice of discriminatory subsidies, and foster a fair, just and non-discriminatory business environment, He said.
