State Grid Weifang Power Supply Company boosts province-wide charging campaign

With the rising utilization of new energy vehicles, the demand for public charging stations is increasing. Weifang in East China's Shandong province is launching the rural charging station campaign to elevate the coverage of charging stations in townships.
The campaign aims to realize a 70-percent coverage rate of charging stations by the end of 2023 and to achieve full coverage in every township by the end of 2025 to support rural revitalization and enable better living conditions for local residents.
Faced with such demand, the State Grid Weifang Power Supply Company launched the Weifang Charging Infrastructure Enhancement Action in July 2022.
Following the approaches with accurate planning and tailored solutions, precise research was conducted in Weifang's villages to provide a "10-minute" charging network that is strategically planned, efficient, fast, user-friendly, and intelligent.
In 2023, to facilitate national efforts to develop rural charging infrastructure, the company fully backed the sale of new energy vehicles in rural areas with greater support and better service quality.
Up to now, a total of 172 charging stations and 1,219 charging piles have been built and put into operation. According to the company, a balanced and efficient charging infrastructure system has been basically formed, allowing both local residents and tourists to enjoy convenient service and longer journeys with their new energy vehicles.
Moreover, the company leverages the aggregation advantages of the State Grid's "vehicle-to-grid" platform and promotes more than 40 charging pile operators to connect to the government's unified platform.
The company also strengthened the innovative application of new technologies and equipment to upgrade the rural power grids, serving eco-friendly travels in rural areas.
