The 2023 China Family Sailing Race-Shenzhen Stop set sail on Saturday with 44 teams taking part. A race with the smallest social unit-family, demonstrating everyone's eagerness to participate in marine activities, the Family Sailing Race aims to integrate the sport into everyday life and expand people's engagement in maritime sports events.

"The continuous organization of the Family Sailing Race has witnessed Shenzhen people's love for sailing, and has played a positive role in promoting sailing in the country, stimulating the community's enthusiasm to participate in the sport," Fu Danqing, vice-chairman of China Sailing and Windsurfing Association, said at the opening ceremony. "Sailing is becoming a new choice of health and recreation for ordinary Chinese families as it becomes more popular as a fashionable and healthy lifestyle."

Five families from Hong Kong SAR also took part in the event. During the interview, the Hong Kong participants said that this was the first time they had seen an event in which they could participate in with their families, a format that they had never seen previously in Hong Kong's sailing regattas. During the race, they could sense the joy of a family getting together in addition to the anxiety and excitement of a regatta. They emphasized their desire for Hong Kong to have family sailing events also, so that more families can experience the charm of sailing.

In the 2023 race in Shenzhen, participants have a brand-new experience, not only the actual competition, but also a multicultural mixture and the wonder of exploration, which is the charm of the people's participation, and creates a strong atmosphere for the construction of Shenzhen as a global ocean city.
