Vivo and Zeiss deepen imaging partnership

Chinese smartphone vendor Vivo deepened its partnership with Zeiss Group, a German optical systems and optoelectronics manufacturer, in mobile imaging, as the two sides aim to bring better imaging quality to consumers.
At the ongoing China International Import Expo in Shanghai, Vivo and Zeiss announced that they will work together to pursue the Great Optics Strategy, to fully integrate various optical technologies into mobile devices, enabling users to create new mobile imaging scenarios.
Specifically, in addition to classic optical applications in photography and video scenes, the two companies will customize exclusive computational optical solutions around optical hardware, and conduct in-depth research and exploration of key technologies such as interactive experience, perception technology and image processing.
"We are not only bullish on the growth potential of the Chinese market, but we hope to comprehensively integrate with China's ecological and supply chains," said Allen Zhang, head of research microscopy solutions China and vice-president of Zeiss Greater China.
Yu Meng, vice president of imaging at Vivo, said the company will step up efforts to enhance mobile imaging capabilities via in-house research and development as well as joint innovation.
