China Energy Investment Corp, or China Energy, made a record in the variety and amount of purchases during the ongoing 6th China International Import Expo held in Shanghai on Sunday.

The company signed contracts with 44 companies from 20 countries and regions, including Mongolia, Switzerland, Indonesia and Germany. The contracts cover the import of high-quality coal, high-end equipment and components, as well as advanced technical services, with a total amount said to be $26.4 billion.

As the Chinese government continues widening market access and the business environment ever improves, the company sees its accumulated procurement amount reaching $9.8 billion during the past six years, said Xu Xinfu, vice general manager of the company.

As one of China's largest energy suppliers, the company has been stepping up energy production and efforts towards a clean energy shift in the past few years.

China Energy has 14 overseas projects in 10 countries, including South Africa, Greece, Indonesia, Australia and Germany, spanning the fields of coal production, power generation, engineering and technological research and development.
