China-Laos begin promising sugarcane transportation season

Trucks carrying sugarcane entered China at the Mengman port on the China-Laos border in Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture, Yunnan province, marking the beginning of the cross-border delivery of sugarcane between the two countries during the 2023-24 season.
The new season began Oct 30 and is expected to last until the end of May. It's forecast that over 900,000 tons of sugarcane will arrive in China from Laotian Luang Nam Tha province, Laos during this period, with a total output value worth over 700 million yuan ($95 million).
Sugarcane is an important part of China-Laos cross-border agricultural cooperation. With the growth of Chinese sugar enterprises and increased yield in overseas sugarcane, demand for cross-border sugarcane transportation is rising.
