Wucheng county weaves new life into traditional handmade carpets

Renowned for its exceptional hand-knotted carpets, which have been carefully cultivated and innovatively adapted to meet the demand of today's consumers, Wucheng county in Shandong province now stands as a bastion of traditional craftsmanship and cultural heritage.

As a major representative of Shandong province's intangible cultural heritage, Wucheng hand-knotted carpets have a long history of traditional manufacturing skills.

Starting from the Baijia carpet workshop in the late Qing Dynasty, the carpets have been sold to temples, stages and noble families, gradually leading to a certain production scale. As early as 1958, in order to promote local economic development, Wucheng county in Shandong province established the Wucheng Carpet Factory, which later turned into today's Shandong Shenlong Carpet Industry Co Ltd.
