Death toll in glacial lake flood hits 41
At least 41 people have died in flash floods inundating India's northeast, officials said on Friday, as army teams plotted helicopter rescues for the thousands stranded in the deluge. Violent torrents struck the remote state of Sikkim on Wednesday after the sudden bursting of a high-altitude glacial lake in neighboring Nepal. Downstream search and rescue teams recovered more bodies overnight as the waters cut a swath through the countryside toward the Bay of Bengal. Climate scientists warn that similar disasters will become an increasing danger across the Himalayas.

Google, Apple warned of possible fines
South Korea's telecommunications regulator said on Friday that Alphabet's Google and Apple have abused their dominant app market position and warned of possible fines totaling up to $50.5 million. The Korea Communications Commission, or KCC, said that the two giants forced app developers into specific payment methods and caused unfair delays in app reviews. Apple also issued a statement, saying it disagrees with the conclusions made by the KCC.
