Thailand contributed 3.6 million Thai baht to UNICEF to support public health programs in border areas of Myanmar, especially on public health challenges in areas along the Thailand–Myanmar border.

The donation was presented by Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, deputy prime minister and ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Friday in Bangkok. The around $100,000 donation is aimed at supporting the UNICEF's humanitarian programs in Myanmar.

Kyungsun Kim, UNICEF's representative to Thailand, represented the UNICEF in receiving the donation. The ceremony on Friday was attended by senior officials from both sides.

Kyungsun said this donation will support the UNICEF's activities related to maternal and child immunization, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) programs, and nutrition in the Kayin and Kayah States, which border Thailand, of Myanmar.

"The financial support from Thailand underscores the country's constructive role in supporting the works of the United Nations and its strong commitment to supporting humanitarian efforts in Myanmar," Kyungsun said.

She added that the budget will also help strengthen the public health system along the Thailand–Myanmar border, which will benefit Thai people living in these border areas.
