BCEIA provides global perspective on research, analytical sciences

The 20th Beijing Conference and Exhibition on Instrumental Analysis, running from Wednesday to Friday, is aimed at boosting mutual promotion between basic and application research, as well as industrial development of China's analytical sciences.
Approved by the State Council in 1985 and inaugurated the same year, the BCEIA is organized by the China Association for Instrumental Analysis and has become one of the world's most influential international academic conferences and exhibitions in the field of analytical sciences.
More than 33,900 professionals participated in the 19th BCEIA in 2021, where the scholar conference organized 627 academic talks. The Plenary Lectures Session discussed the most advanced principles, methods and technologies in analytical sciences. Ten parallel sessions and concurrent meetings discussed hot issues such as novel coronavirus, precision medicine, semiconductors, chips, peak CO2 emissions and carbon neutrality, new energy, new materials and food safety.
The exhibition has attracted 716 domestic and foreign companies to showcase an impressive array of advanced scientific instruments and equipment in featured areas, including testing and biochemistry technology, smart labs, environmental protection-related testing and pharmaceutical innovation.
Adhering to the vision that "Analytical Science Creates Future", the BCEIA 2023 is hosting academic conferences, forums and exhibitions under the theme of "For a Green and Healthy Future".
The conferences consist of plenary lectures in which top international scholars share innovative research developments, as well as parallel sessions focused on the following 11 fields: electron microscopy and materials sciences; mass spectrometry; optical spectroscopy; chromatography; magnetic resonance spectroscopy; electroanalytical chemistry; analytical techniques in life sciences; environmental analysis; chemical metrology and reference materials; labeled immunoassay and micro total analysis.
In response to global demand for green, low-carbon and sustainable development and high-quality healthcare, this year's BCEIA features two interdisciplinary and cross-field forums on the themes of "Post-Pandemic Big Health Development" and "Sustainable Science and Technology under the Dual Carbon Strategy".
A series of concurrent meetings and forums with diverse themes are being held during the three-day event, including an acclaimed food safety risk monitoring symposium, which focuses on policy interpretation and the application of cutting-edge testing technology to food safety in making instrumental analysis better serve people.
The exhibition area at this year's BCEIA covers 53,400 square meters in accommodating 723 instrument makers from 20 countries and regions. More than 6,000 individual pieces and sets of instruments, general laboratory equipment, consumable materials, reagents and key parts are being showcased at the event. They involve such application fields of instrumental analysis as environmental analysis, food analysis, biological medicine, material analysis, in vitro diagnosis, design and construction of laboratories, metallurgy, textiles and aerospace.
The exhibition hall retains the traditional analytical biochemical instrument area and offers several characteristic zones centering on quality control and material analysis, preliminary treatment innovation technology and also scientific and technological literature and authoritative periodicals.
The literature and scholarly periodical exhibition area aims to provide service resources for scholars, scientific research and technical professionals and students participating in the event, and also offers an exhibition and communication platform to noted publication organizations and periodicals.
Among the exhibitors are the National Science and Technology Library and noted scientific and technological journal publishers such as ACS Publications, Royal Society of Chemistry, IOP Publishing, Elsevier, Springer Nature and Wiley.
Attendees at the BCEIA can participate in scholarly discussions, view new analytical biochemical instruments and expand business and cooperative opportunities as activities promote industry-university-research cooperation.
