The International Organization for Standardization is set to establish the secretariat of a management consultancy in China on Tuesday, with the inaugural full committee meeting scheduled for mid-November.

This marks the first time in ISO's 76-year history that a secretariat for a management-related committee is based in China, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade said on Monday.

Yao Xin, secretary-general of the business industry committee at CCPIT, also the secretary-general of the ISO/TC 342 Management Consultancy, said, "Through communication and outreach, we will continue to expand international participation. Simultaneously, we have already opened floors for international standard proposals from home and abroad, aiming to identify and understand the global demand and trends in management consulting standards."

Yao said that during the annual meeting in mid-November, the organizational structure of ISO/TC 342 will be established. "Participants will discuss the strategic business plan (SBP), and explore potential international standard projects."

"In the future, we will build a mechanism to promote domestic and international collaboration in management consulting, systematically coordinate efforts to advance international, national, industry, and association standards in this field.

"The establishment of the secretariat in China will enhance China's role in global economic governance and its influence in setting international standards and rules. The move will also promote the high-quality development of the management consulting industry, and bolster the international competitiveness of domestic management consulting firms," Yao said.
