The Nourishing by Nature Corporate Social Responsibility program was launched on Thursday in Beijing by Dutch dairy giant FrieslandCampina, the China Dairy Industry Association and the China Green Foundation. Focusing on children's food and nature education, the program will help children understand the importance of nourishment and environmental protection through projects such as kindergarten courses and activities, training, live broadcasting and an interactive mini program on WeChat.

Song Kungang, honorary president of the Chinese National Committee of the International Dairy Federation and former president of the CDIA; Liu Meiju, executive vice-president and secretary-general of the CDIA; Jan Derck van Karnebeek, CEO of FrieslandCampina; Harvey Uong, president of specialized nutrition of FrieslandCampina and Grace Chen, managing director of FrieslandCampina China were present at the launch ceremony. Teachers from kindergartens across China also participated in the event, along with children and their parents.

Dairy as a natural food is rich in nutrients and has health benefits. "Children's food education plays an important role in the Healthy China initiative. As people pay closer attention to dairy consumption, dairy science popularization should also keep pace with the change. The Nourishing by Nature Camp will help children to grow up healthily in an eco-friendly environment," Song said.

Food education includes the cultivation of good eating habits, knowledge of nutritional science, and the teaching of harmony among humankind, nature and the environment.

With a history of more than 150 years and "nourishing by nature" as its purpose, FrieslandCampina controls the entire dairy chain "from grass to glass", and brings dairy to consumers all over the world. FrieslandCampina has a clear set of sustainable development goals and is aiming to produce net climate-neutral dairy by no later than 2050. Since entering China, FrieslandCampina shares its belief in "nourishing by nature" and its experience in sustainability.

Van Karnebeek said: "As a company, it's both an honor and our duty to participate in and support this campaign. It is very much about helping children to understand the importance of nourishment and good nutrition, but also at the same time protecting the environment and taking care of the world outside. We are both committed to nourishment and the environment and we plan to keep this deep commitment going forward."

The Nourishing by Nature CSR program brought experts in nutrition, environmental protection and education together to develop a series of courses and draws on the practical experience of the Milk Quotient Training Camp for early childhood food education. It includes three main topics, namely Nature, Environmental Protection and Health. Covering more than 20 pilot kindergartens across the country, the program promotes food education and environmental protection among children via interesting activities.

"The launch of this program allows children to be grateful for nature nourishment and take action to protect the environment," Dong Hui, principal of the BIT Kindergarten said.

On the launch day, children's creativity is fully displayed in their works about milk and dairy products, as well as environmental protection concepts. In the runway show, the children presented many beautiful eco-friendly clothes and small accessories, showcasing a new and green fashion trend.

In addition to offline activities, the program also launched its WeChat mini program. More children and families can join in through online activities, online learning and livestreaming classes. Meanwhile, the program also recruits kindergarten teachers and parents, giving them professional guidance and training while encouraging them to co-create content.
